Karaikal Port Private Limited (KPPL) is an all-weather deep water port developed on Build, Operate and Transfer format under Public Private Partnership in terms of the concession awarded by the Government of Puducherry. Commissioned in April 2009 and developed in an area of 600 acres, Karaikal Port is located near the town of Karaikal in the Union Territory of Pondicherry, India. Since operations, the port has handled diverse cargo such as Coal, Sugar, Cement, Fertilizers, Project cargo, Agro commodities, Liquid cargo and Containers.

Vessel Restriction Note :

1 Maximum permissible beam of ships is 48.00 m.
2. ships of draft of 14.0 m and above will be berthed on tide only.
3. Permissible draft at Zone-B is 2.9 m

Navigation Details :

(a) latitude 8°45'N and longitude 78°13'E on the southeastern coast of India

(b) It's a deep-sea harbor formed by parallel breakwaters and has a draft of 14.2 meters.

(c) The port is well-connected by road and rail, with the National Highway NH-45B and NH-7A linking it to major cities and the rest of the country.

1) At present Floating crane is not available went for dry dock / return date not known
2) Barges available with vendors for lightening with vsl cranes
3) 2 x 120 Mt SWL - 32 CBM / 18 CBM grab fitted cranes available at berth 9.
4) x TRF Electric Crane with 8, 10, 12 CBM grabs available for discharge bulk cargo at berth 3 & 4
